Watu Credit Uganda Ltd is seeking an experienced and strategic Product Manager to join our growing team in Kampala. Position Summary
The Product Manager for Watu SIMU will spearhead the development and execution of the product strategy, customer experience, and aftersales operations. Key focus areas include optimizing customer and device onboarding, improving user and payment experiences, strengthening asset protection and fraud prevention measures, driving process automation, and enhancing post-sale support. This role requires a data-driven approach, strong cross-functional collaboration, and effective team leadership. You will work closely with internal teams and external partners such as OEMs, MNOs, Wallet Providers, Credit Reference Bureaus, repair partners, and their agents to ensure seamless product delivery and continuous improvement.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Ownership: Define and refine the product roadmap for digital channels and Aftersales workflows, ensuring a balance between compliance, automation, and customer satisfaction. Prioritize product requirements, collaborate with stakeholders on sprint goals, and lead localization efforts including UX adaptations and translations. Own the digital platform experience across Android & USSD Apps, WhatsApp & In-App Bots, and IVR channels, focusing on self-service adoption and first-call resolution. Design and implement experiments and user research to optimize customer journeys. Develop and roll out support tools for frontline teams.
- Product Growth & Marketing: Lead go-to-market execution for products and features. Define and maintain locally relevant buyer personas for onboarding and aftersales. Collaborate on training materials, FAQs, and product announcements. Drive initiatives to reduce customer support dependency and increase digital channel adoption.
- MDM/MIS Platforms Management: Establish and enforce policies for device enrollment, firmware updates, and deactivation. Design, test, and launch automation for the onboarding process. Liaise with OEMs and MDM providers to resolve platform issues and customize features. Monitor system usage and device status to ensure compliance.
- Asset Security: Lead penetration testing and fraud prevention experiments, working with partners to address security loopholes. Collaborate with Data & Risk teams to design and execute detection workflows.
- Aftersales Operations: Oversee customer support processes for device unlocks, returns, and replacements. Manage escalation channels and the performance of support teams. Drive standardization and process excellence across branches and third-party locations.
- Product Partnerships: Act as the primary product liaison for Uganda-based stakeholders including MNOs, CRBs, regulators, and retail partners. Champion co-marketing and joint support initiatives. Align with Group Partnerships Manager on long-term interoperability.
