Job description
Job Summary
The organization is looking for a seasoned Product Manager/Product Owner who brings strong expertise in cards and payments within banking and financial services. In this role, you will shape the product direction, manage the roadmap, and lead the delivery of modern card and payment offerings that improve customer experience and support business expansion.
You should have solid knowledge of credit cards, debit cards, payment processing, digital payments, card lifecycle management, and banking operations. The position involves working closely with business leaders, engineering, risk and compliance teams, and external payment partners.
Product Strategy and Roadmap
- Set the product direction, vision, and roadmap for cards and payments solutions, and drive execution against it.
- Lead initiatives that support innovation and digital modernization across the banking environment.
- Collect input from customers, business teams, and the market to uncover new product opportunities.
- Rank features and enhancements based on customer impact and business value.
- Oversee the full product journey from early concept through launch and production support.
Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate with teams across business, technology, operations, risk, compliance, and vendors.
- Convert business needs into user stories and functional requirements.
- Take ownership of the product backlog and keep priorities aligned.
- Run Agile ceremonies and help ensure sprints are delivered successfully.
Risk and Compliance
- Make sure products follow banking regulations and relevant industry standards.
- Work with risk and compliance teams to define controls and governance for the product.
- Assist with audit readiness, regulatory obligations, and security-related requirements.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 5 years of experience in product management or product ownership.
- Strong background in banking and financial services.
- Practical experience with cards and payments products.
- Exposure to Agile and Scrum delivery methods.
- Good understanding of product lifecycle management.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
Domain Expertise
Cards: credit cards, debit cards, card issuing, card servicing, card processing, rewards and loyalty programs, card activation, chargebacks and disputes, fraud prevention.
Payments: payment processing, payment gateways, merchant payments, digital payments, ACH, wire transfers, real-time payments (RTP), mobile wallets, contactless payments, tokenization.
Technical Knowledge
API management, REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, Postman, payment integrations, SQL, Jira, Confluence, and Azure DevOps.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work with Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover ecosystems.
- Experience with card processors such as Fiserv, TSYS, FIS, First Data, or Global Payments.
- Understanding of PCI-DSS compliance.
- Exposure to fraud detection and risk management platforms.
- Familiarity with open banking and banking-as-a-service (BaaS) initiatives.
Education
A bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related discipline is required.
