Role overview

Our client is a vertically integrated textile solutions company serving Sub-Saharan Africa through established brands. They are seeking a highly analytical, target-focused Production Planning Coordinator to strengthen planning operations and improve overall efficiency.

Based in Ruiru, Kenya, this position is responsible for bringing together customer demand, factory capacity, and raw material needs into workable production and inventory plans. The role is central to dependable deliveries, lean inventory levels, smoother operations, and long-term growth.

Key responsibilities

Production planning

  • Create and keep updated integrated production plans that reflect customer demand and business priorities.
  • Organize production schedules and sequence work in a way that improves operating efficiency.
  • Make sure planning decisions are grounded in information that is accurate, current, and dependable.

Capacity planning and optimization

  • Track manufacturing capacity usage and look for ways to improve it.
  • Spot production limits and bottlenecks early enough to act on them.
  • Propose capacity enhancement ideas that support expansion and future growth.
  • Help reduce delays and interruptions caused by limited capacity.

Inventory and material planning

  • Coordinate material planning so production can continue without avoidable stoppages.
  • Partner with procurement teams to support timely replenishment planning.
  • Support inventory optimization efforts to prevent shortages and surplus stock.
  • Ensure materials are available to meet all production needs.

Risk management and performance tracking

  • Identify planning risks early, assess their impact, and escalate them before they affect performance.
  • Track results against production plans and examine any gaps or deviations.
  • Prepare useful planning insights, recommendations, and performance reports for leadership.
  • Coordinate corrective actions to resolve planning issues and operational risks.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, Statistics, or a related discipline.

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in production planning, inventory planning, supply chain, manufacturing operations, or a closely related area.
  • Proven background in manufacturing capacity planning and working across functions to coordinate activities.
  • Hands-on experience using ERP/SAP systems and planning tools.

Preferred background

  • Experience in textile manufacturing or other integrated manufacturing settings is an advantage.
  • Exposure to inventory optimization, resource planning, and capacity optimization methods is preferred.
  • Familiarity with environments where cost control, inventory performance, and customer experience are key business priorities.

Core competencies

  • Strong analytical ability and solid planning judgment.
  • Comfortable working with data and systems.
  • Excellent coordination skills and dependable follow-through.
  • Advanced ability with ERP/SAP and planning platforms.
  • Well-structured, process-led approach to work.
  • Able to handle complexity and shifting priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Success measures

This role will contribute directly to stronger on-time delivery, better use of manufacturing capacity, improved inventory effectiveness, and fewer production interruptions or planning-related risks.
