Job description
Role Overview
Book of the Month runs a highly coordinated monthly cycle that brings together many moving parts, including book selection, production, site and app operations, inventory, fulfillment, customer experience, and member communications. The Program Manager, Cycle Operations acts as the link that connects these workstreams and helps the entire process stay aligned and on schedule.
This position is responsible for running and improving the cycle operations process, increasing visibility across teams through strong project management practices, and serving as the central reference point for information that different groups need to work together effectively. At any point in time, one cycle is active while as many as three upcoming cycles are being prepared, so this role helps ensure progress stays on track across every stage.
The role also represents the customer internally for the active cycle. From the moment a member places an order until the book leaves the warehouse, this person monitors the experience, spots issues early, and works with the right teams to resolve concerns before they reach members.
Cycle Operations Management
- Manage the full cycle operations checklist from start to finish each month, while also identifying ways to streamline, strengthen, and automate the process.
- Coordinate several cycles at the same time, keeping the current cycle on track while advancing up to three future cycles through their preparation stages.
- Use project management software to create clear visibility across teams and maintain a reliable system for tracking a complex, cross-functional workflow.
- Act as the main communication point for the cycle so each team has timely access to the details it needs to make decisions and stay aligned.
Order Management
- Track the customer journey from order placement through shipment and take proactive steps to resolve issues with the appropriate internal partners.
- Build clear visibility into order health and identify patterns or wider issues before they affect members at scale.
- Represent the customer perspective across the business by sharing member needs, order updates, and resolution status with every team involved in the experience.
- Investigate issues directly when needed by reviewing data, checking systems, and helping the team move forward instead of simply passing the problem along.
About You
- You bring 3 to 5+ years of experience in project or program management, preferably in a fast-paced operations, e-commerce, or software setting.
- You communicate clearly and effectively in both written and spoken formats.
- You are highly organized and approach organization as a structured system, not just a habit.
- You can manage several parallel workstreams at once without losing focus on the details.
- You are comfortable using project management platforms such as Asana, ClickUp, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar tools, and you think about how to design better systems rather than simply using existing ones.
- You have some technical fluency, and basic SQL knowledge is considered an advantage for investigating issues and finding answers independently.
- You are action-oriented and prefer to troubleshoot problems directly rather than waiting for a meeting to be scheduled.
Compensation
The stated salary range for this role is $80,000 to $150,000 per year.
