About the Organization
Momentum is a recognized clean-technology consultancy that has helped secure funding for projects totaling more than $10 billion. Headquartered in downtown Sacramento, the firm works with cleantech organizations around the world, offering strategic planning, fund development, project management, and commercialization support.
Vision
The company aims to help create a future where clean energy, water, and transportation are widely accessible, affordable, and available to everyone.
Role Summary
The Project Consultant is a key member of the Project Operations team, taking full ownership of defined workstreams and helping drive client project success. The role combines consulting, writing, and project management to create clear, data-backed, and practical deliverables. It requires strong independent judgment, close collaboration with internal teams, and steady client communication.
Key Responsibilities
This position is responsible for leading assigned work, producing polished client-facing materials, coordinating meetings, and supporting the delivery of complex engagements. The consultant also helps develop proposals, scopes, and budgets, supports team learning, and looks for ways to improve processes and tools.
Work Expectations and Reporting
This is a client-facing role with an 80% utilization target, equal to 1,664 billable hours per year for a full-time employee. There are no direct supervisory duties, although the position may mentor Project Analysts and Associate Project Consultants. The role reports to the Director of Project Operations.
Location and Travel
The job is remote-eligible, but federal contract rules or project geography may require the employee to be based in California. Occasional travel may be needed for Sacramento and project sites across California and the United States. In-person training and onboarding take place at the Sacramento office.
Application Window
Applications are accepted from June 15, 2026 through June 29, 2026.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings strong consulting and project management experience, excellent writing and editing skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with clients and cross-functional teams. The role calls for a strategic mindset, strong organization, self-direction, and comfort with tools such as Microsoft Office, project management software, and CRM or collaboration platforms like HubSpot. Experience mentoring others and helping build an inclusive team culture is also valued.
Experience and Education
The employer seeks someone with 4 to 6 years of relevant experience in consulting, project management, or public-sector program delivery. Candidates should have a proven record of independently managing scopes of work, maintaining client relationships, and producing high-quality external deliverables. Prior exposure to public funding and grant writing is preferred.
Benefits
Momentum provides a competitive benefits package that includes salary, annual target bonuses, fully employer-paid health premium options for full-time staff, a Simple IRA with matching, paid time off, paid sick leave, 12 company holidays, employer-paid life insurance, a cell phone stipend, and an annual professional development allowance.
Compensation
The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $98,500, plus bonus. Final compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

The company emphasizes fairness, open communication, teamwork, problem solving, and empathy in its work with clients and colleagues. It also highlights opportunities for growth and advancement in a flexible, people-centered environment.
