Role overview

This opening is for an experienced Project Manager to join an established international consultancy supporting building and construction work across the Düsseldorf area. The position sits within a global consultancy active in construction and infrastructure, and it focuses on delivering a varied portfolio of local projects while also contributing to site management and construction supervision.

The role is based in Düsseldorf, Germany, and offers a salary of €75,000 to €90,000 plus a package, depending on experience.

What the role involves

  • Leading building and construction assignments from early design coordination through to final handover.
  • Serving as the main liaison for clients, consultants, contractors, and other project partners.
  • Planning project schedules, allocating resources, and coordinating delivery tasks to keep work on track.
  • Assisting with on-site supervision and tracking construction progress against programme requirements.
  • Making sure work aligns with German building rules, health and safety standards, and project-specific quality expectations.
  • Assessing contractor performance, reviewing progress updates, and checking construction records and documentation.
  • Identifying project risks, anticipating issues, and putting practical mitigation measures in place.
  • Contributing to tendering, procurement, and contract administration activities when needed.
  • Carrying out site visits, progress meetings, snagging checks, and final handover activities.
  • Preparing project reports, updates, and performance information for clients and other stakeholders.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
  • Several years of hands-on experience delivering building construction projects in Germany.
  • Background in project management together with exposure to site management, construction supervision, or Bauleitung.
  • Solid knowledge of German construction regulations, approval/permitting processes, and delivery requirements.
  • Experience in consultancy, contractor, or client-side settings.
  • Strong German and English communication ability.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-developed organisation and prioritisation skills, with the ability to handle several project demands at once.
  • Experience with commercial, mixed-use, residential, industrial, or public sector schemes would be an advantage.
  • German and English are mandatory, and candidates below B2 level cannot be considered.

The employer states a commitment to equal opportunity and confirms that candidates will not be discriminated against on grounds including age, colour, nationality, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, or political belief.
