About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated QA/QC Engineer with a focus on Mechanical aspects to join our team in Chennai. This role is crucial for ensuring that all fabrication and erection activities on-site adhere strictly to project specifications, industry codes, and established standards. The position involves conducting thorough inspections, collaborating closely with the site execution team, meticulously managing QA/QC documentation, and upholding safety and environmental regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular on-site inspections and tests on materials and construction work to verify adherence to quality standards and project specifications.
- Implement and oversee project-specific Quality Control Plans (QCP) and Inspection Test Plans (ITP) for all mechanical activities.
- Ensure all testing equipment is properly calibrated and verified, meeting relevant industry standards.
- Document and report any non-conformities or deviations from design and specifications, initiating and tracking corrective and preventive actions to resolution.
- Collaborate with site engineers and subcontractors to ensure a clear understanding and consistent application of quality requirements throughout the execution phase.
- Coordinate with the planning and project control teams to update quality milestones and integrate material testing statuses with the project schedule.
- Engage with clients and their representatives for material approvals, quality inspections, and joint handover processes.
- Supervise subcontractors to ensure their compliance with site-specific testing protocols and quality standards.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification of ITI, Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- A minimum of 3 years and a maximum of 10 years of relevant experience in QA/QC for structural steel or mechanical components within industrial construction projects.
- Demonstrated experience in implementing and monitoring quality control procedures and site-specific testing protocols.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi, both spoken and written; knowledge of a regional language is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and observational skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Familiarity with relevant construction codes and standards (e.g., IS codes, ASTM).
- Expertise in mechanical material testing procedures and the interpretation of test results.
- Understanding of calibration and verification processes for testing equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation.
- Experience in quality auditing and implementing Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Proficiency in risk management and incident investigation related to quality control.
