Job Description
This role involves the testing of pharmaceutical substances, including raw materials and drug substances, within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment. The primary focus will be on Gas Chromatography (GC) and High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) analysis, supplemented by other analytical techniques as required by client procedures and quality systems.
Key Accountabilities
- Receive comprehensive training from SGS and the client, becoming qualified in relevant analytical techniques and maintaining up-to-date training records. Provide training to other analysts when qualified.
- Execute tests strictly adhering to valid testing procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure laboratory equipment is properly maintained and undergoes calibration at scheduled intervals.
- Manage the inventory and status of all materials necessary for analysis.
- Verify and review results generated by other analysts to ensure compliance with requirements, once qualified.
- Accurately enter data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
- Assess laboratory testing results and finalize batch analysis reports.
- Meet all target deadlines and provide regular updates on testing status during meetings.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the laboratories.
- Ensure laboratory records are meticulously kept, with all work completed correctly the first time and on schedule.
- Develop and maintain essential documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), methods, and reports.
- Collaborate effectively within the team to meet and exceed client expectations, supporting the achievement of client and SGS Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to investigations, training, productivity, and timely testing.
- Report any atypical or aberrant results, including documentation and investigation, to the appropriate contact person.
- Lead laboratory investigations and deviation management processes as needed.
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure the laboratory is always audit-ready.
- Identify and implement improvements in safety, environmental practices, quality, and service delivery.
- Engage in self-development and career progression discussions with your supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a Science Graduate degree in Chemistry or an equivalent science education (Level 7).
- Minimum of 2 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in a GMP laboratory setting is mandatory.
- Demonstrated experience with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Data Integrity principles, and a solid understanding of analytical technologies such as HPLC, GC, Karl Fischer (KF) titration, Infrared (IR) spectroscopy, Particle Size Distribution (PSD), X-ray, and wet chemistry.
- Exhibit strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Be a flexible team player with a customer-centric approach, adaptable to changing needs.
- Uphold excellent quality and safety standards in all tasks.
- Proficiency with laboratory computer systems, including LIMS and Trackwise.
