Role Summary
This is a full-time, on-site Quality Assurance Manager position based in Basra. The role is responsible for setting up, implementing, and continuously improving quality management systems for oil and gas engineering and construction projects so they remain aligned with company, client, and regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and improve quality policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Prepare and review quality plans, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and method statements.
- Ensure all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and contract requirements.
- Plan, coordinate, and monitor audits and inspection activities.
- Work closely with construction, engineering, HSE, and procurement teams to resolve quality issues.
- Track non-conformities through to closure and keep quality records accurate and complete.
- Coach teams on quality expectations and provide training where needed.
- Support root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions.
- Report quality performance, patterns, risks, and improvement areas to project and senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Proven background in quality management on large oil and gas, petrochemical, or heavy industrial EPC/construction projects.
- Strong working knowledge of international standards and codes such as ISO 9001, API, ASME, and ASTM.
- Experience creating and maintaining QA systems, procedures, QA plans, ITPs, NCR/CAR workflows, and improvement programs.
- Practical exposure to quality audits and inspections, including vendor, site, internal, and external audits.
- Solid ability in root cause analysis, risk evaluation, and structured problem-solving.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities for cross-functional and external coordination.
- Comfortable working with office tools and quality-related software.
