Job description
About the Company
Davin Industries Limited is a precision sheetmetal engineering business based in Christchurch. Since 1962, the company has combined technology and craftsmanship to deliver work focused on accuracy, innovation, and doing things right the first time.
The business is built around quality, and it is looking for someone who wants to take real ownership of that area and contribute in a meaningful, hands-on way.
Role Overview
This position is for a practical Quality Systems Manager who is comfortable being closely involved in day-to-day operations rather than working only at a desk. The role suits someone who enjoys detail, spends time on the shop floor, and helps quality become part of how the business operates every day.
You will be responsible for the Quality Management System and for bringing it to life across the organisation through improvement work, problem-solving, and collaboration with teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, maintain, and improve the Quality Management System, including alignment with standards such as ISO 9001.
- Stay actively involved in operations and work alongside teams to strengthen quality understanding and application.
- Organise and conduct internal and external audits while handling compliance expectations confidently.
- Spot opportunities for improvement and lead effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Make sure quality documents are practical, relevant, and genuinely used in daily work.
- Coach teams so they build confidence, capability, and accountability around quality processes.
- Track quality performance, analyse results, and turn findings into meaningful action.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal person is someone who combines quality expertise with a hands-on, can-do attitude. You should be comfortable moving between planning, problem-solving, and practical implementation on the floor.
- Experience in a Quality Systems Manager role, or a similar position, within manufacturing or engineering.
- Good knowledge of ISO standards and broader quality systems.
- A practical, engaged approach and willingness to work directly with people and processes.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to solve problems in a sensible, practical way.
- Communication skills that help you influence others, coach teams, and earn trust across all levels.
- Qualifications in engineering, quality, or a related field are preferred.
What’s on Offer
You’ll join a collaborative and straightforward team environment that values trust, integrity, practical thinking, and shared success. The role offers the chance to make a visible impact from the start and to help shape quality outcomes across the business.
A competitive salary package is available.
Workplace Culture
The company describes its culture as one built on trust and integrity, with a strong team environment and a focus on doing the work well.
Location
This is an on-site role based in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand.
