Quantity Surveyor

Role overview

SJ Group is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to handle cost planning, tender support, contract management, and project financial control for construction, A&A, and FM work. The role involves close coordination with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to keep commercial matters accurate and compliant.

Core responsibilities

• Build project cost estimates, prepare tender submissions, and support pricing decisions.
• Examine tender packs, technical specifications, and drawings to identify risks and ensure compliance.
• Collect, compare, and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Handle clarifications after tender submission and prepare documentation for contract award.
• Administer contract matters such as variations, claims, and payment processing.
• Prepare progress claims, assess payment responses, and close out final accounts.
• Track project spending, monitor cash flow, and produce financial updates and reports.
• Make sure work follows contractual duties and statutory obligations, including SOP Act requirements.
• Assist with dispute handling and contract discussions when needed.

Requirements

• A Degree or Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Building, or a closely related field.
• Background in tendering and contract administration for construction, A&A, or FM projects.
• Working knowledge of common contract formats such as PSSCOC, SIA, and NEC.
• Strong ability to analyse information, negotiate effectively, and communicate clearly.
• Comfortable working on your own and juggling several projects at once.
