Job description
Role overview
Valence Surface Technologies is hiring a Recruiter in Wichita, KS to manage recruiting across an assigned region, with a strong focus on hourly manufacturing and production talent. This role supports rapid hiring needs, recurring openings, and region-specific workforce planning for plant and operations teams.
What you will do
- Oversee end-to-end hiring for hourly production positions, covering intake discussions, candidate sourcing, screening, interview setup, selection, and the offer stage.
- Work closely with Plant Managers, Operations leaders, and HR to align hiring plans with headcount targets, shift coverage, start dates, attendance expectations, and essential qualifications.
- Create and carry out recruiting strategies for regional growth, seasonal spikes, ramp-ups, and roles with high turnover, while building a ready talent pipeline for ongoing openings.
- Find candidates through high-volume channels such as job boards, referrals, community partners, staffing partners, and walk-in traffic where relevant, plus targeted outreach for harder-to-fill skilled positions.
- Support and run hiring events such as job fairs, open interviews, and virtual or on-site events, ensuring fast and compliant decision-making that supports production demands.
- Conduct phone, video, and in-person interviews to evaluate safety awareness, attendance reliability, shift flexibility, manufacturing background, and overall job fit.
- Coordinate interviews across different sites and shifts, keeping candidates engaged and informed to reduce no-shows and improve attendance at interviews.
- Partner with HR and site leadership to move candidates through offers, background checks, drug screens, fitness-for-duty or physical checks when required, and onboarding readiness.
- Keep applicant tracking system records complete, accurate, and current to support reporting and compliance requirements.
- Monitor recruiting KPIs such as time to fill, time to start, candidate flow, event conversion, source performance, and early attrition or no-show patterns, then suggest process improvements.
- Maintain compliant hiring practices, including EEO standards, interview documentation, and alignment with company policies and applicable local, state, and federal employment laws.
- Represent the employer brand in local markets and help strengthen community pipelines through technical schools, workforce boards, veteran groups, and community organizations.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a similar field is preferred.
- At least 3 years of recruiting experience, including full-cycle hiring.
- Background in high-volume hourly recruiting with the ability to handle multiple requisitions under tight deadlines.
- Experience recruiting across multiple sites or within a defined territory and building talent pipelines in several labor markets.
- Comfort using applicant tracking systems and Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn HRIS and timekeeping tools as needed.
- Understanding of employment law and fair hiring practices, along with the ability to document decisions consistently and compliantly.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work quickly while protecting quality and candidate experience.
- Willingness to travel within the assigned region and support hiring events outside regular shifts when needed.
