Job description

Role summary

The Regional Head for Gold Loans is accountable for turning business strategy into execution across the assigned territory. The role is designed to accelerate growth, improve profitability, safeguard portfolio quality, and maintain strong operating governance while leading regional teams to meet targets for AUM, disbursements, branch growth, and compliance.

Role scope

This is a large-scale regional leadership position in a new business line. The incumbent is expected to build relationships with enabling functions and regional stakeholders, manage a broad branch network through multiple area heads, and set the operating blueprint for the region, including manpower planning and productivity norms aligned to the national agenda.

  • Build and manage new relationships with internal support teams and regional stakeholders.
  • Lead a large distributed team that includes multiple area heads and branch teams across the region.
  • Define region-level business plans, staffing structure, and productivity benchmarks.
  • Ensure full adherence to all regulatory and internal compliance requirements.
  • Track portfolio health, market movement, and performance indicators closely.

Business context

Aditya Birla Capital Limited is a registered non-deposit accepting systemically important NBFC under RBI oversight and one of India’s leading diversified private NBFCs. As of 31-Sep’25, it had a pan-India lending book of about Rs. 139,500 Crores. The company serves retail, HNI, MSME, mid-sized, and large corporate customers through a wide set of secured and unsecured lending solutions, and also operates a wealth management business. It has received AAA ratings from India Ratings, ICRA, and CARE, and has been recognized on multiple industry forums.

Business challenge

The position requires balancing fast growth with disciplined risk control in a high-volume, low-ticket lending environment. Success depends on expanding the region while maintaining prudent LTV levels, low delinquency, and strong collateral protection, especially in a market affected by gold price changes. The leader must also protect the brand through fair, quick, and transparent customer handling while preventing fraud, substitutions, collusion, and security lapses as the business scales.

Key performance areas

  • Scale the business sustainably by improving AUM, disbursements, customer base, market share, average ticket size, and the mix between new and renewal loans.
  • Deliver profitable growth with a strong grip on margins, yields, cost-to-income, operating profit, ROA/ROE, and branch-level profitability.
  • Maintain strong asset quality and collateral safety through tight portfolio monitoring, adherence to LTV norms, delinquency control, fraud prevention, and recovery management.
  • Build a productive branch network by expanding branches as planned, reducing underperformance, and improving branch and RM productivity.
  • Drive customer acquisition and frontline sales effectiveness while improving conversion, repeat business, and cross-sell/upsell ratios.
  • Ensure regulatory, audit, and policy compliance with accurate documentation, purity testing discipline, and zero-tolerance control over breaches.
  • Strengthen people capability through lower attrition, faster hiring for critical roles, stronger successor readiness, higher training coverage, and post-training productivity gains.

Reporting structure

The role is expected to oversee the following reporting positions:

  • Area Head – Gold Loan
  • Branch Head, where middle management layers are not present

Key internal interactions

  • Regional heads for business reviews, acquisition, recruitment, productivity, and governance.
  • IT teams for website updates, online initiatives, staff training, and back-office support.
  • Marketing teams for promotional plans, lead generation, and web-based campaigns.
  • Risk, policy, audit, compliance, and HR teams for product, business, and team-related needs.

Key external interactions

  • Customers for feedback, complaint resolution, and escalation handling.
  • Channel partners and investment banks for market insights, funding trends, and product recommendations.
  • Vendors for product ideas, negotiations, value propositions, and marketing or training support.
