Job description

Role overview

Redroofs Lifecare in Dunedin is seeking a Registered Nurse to help deliver high-quality care in a supportive and compassionate environment. The care home has 50 beds and serves residents in the city of Dunedin. This opportunity sits within Heritage Lifecare, a large and fast-growing aged care organisation with 42 care homes and 20 villages across New Zealand, from Whangarei to Invercargill.

Work arrangement

This is a casual position, meaning shifts are offered as needed rather than on a fixed regular roster. The role is based onsite at Redroofs Lifecare in Otago, Dunedin City, and includes AM, PM, night, and weekend shifts.

What you will do

  • Guide and support a team of Caregivers to maintain a high standard of resident care.
  • Create, update, and review care plans.
  • Perform clinical assessments.
  • Build trusted relationships with residents, their families, and GPs.
  • Work alongside the Clinical Services and Care Home Managers.

About the employer

Heritage Lifecare describes itself as a caring, nurturing, and whānau-oriented organisation with a welcoming culture. The team at Redroofs includes people from many different countries and backgrounds, and the workplace values diversity, empathy, and a shared commitment to caring for others. The organisation is also a leading dementia provider in New Zealand.

Required background and skills

Applicants should have prior Registered Nurse experience, either in New Zealand or overseas, and must hold a current APC. The role calls for strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving ability, along with a warm, positive approach and a genuine desire to help others. A collaborative team mindset, empathy, and an ongoing focus on improvement and health and safety are also important.

Compensation and benefits

The role offers competitive pay aligned to skills and experience, along with opportunities for professional growth and progression. You will also join a supportive, collaborative workplace where your work contributes directly to the wellbeing of residents.

Eligibility and important notes

Applicants must have the legal right to work in New Zealand, and visa support may not be available for this position. Applications are reviewed as they arrive, so interviews may be scheduled before the closing date. The application closing date is 15 Jul 2026.
