Role overview
Dow Jones Newswires is hiring two reporters to cover business, finance, economics, and markets across the Middle East. The position is based in Doha and sits within a regional team that contributes to broader EMEA newsroom coverage. The role calls for a journalist who can uncover original stories on capital movements, private equity leadership changes, private markets, and the energy sector.
What you will do
- Break timely stories that matter to professional readers, using strong sourcing and the ability to stay ahead of market developments.
- Turn fast-moving market news into clear, useful analysis, from short alerts to longer-form thematic pieces.
- Surface relevant details from regional news flow and shape them into sharp English-language updates for the daily global report.
- Partner closely with colleagues across Newswires and The Wall Street Journal while following Dow Jones editorial standards and ethics.
- Focus on information that is most relevant to financial professionals and present it in a concise, accurate way.
- Convert complex developments into concise briefs followed by analysis that explains the investor impact.
- Understand the needs of the core Newswires audience and respond to them appropriately.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully in a fast-paced environment with a heavy news flow.
Experience and profile
- You should bring at least two to three years of relevant professional experience.
- You need a strong sense of urgency and the ability to stay composed when under pressure.
- Curiosity about Middle Eastern markets and a desire to keep learning are important.
- You must be able to juggle several priorities while still working well as part of a team.
- Excellent written English is required.
- Arabic fluency is an advantage, though it is not mandatory.
