Helix Bar Review is one of its newer offerings, created in support of that mission.

Role overview
The Research Analyst will join the Research Programs team within the Center for Legal Education Excellence. This person will support the company’s research and data efforts by helping build and maintain research tools, analyzing data, and advising internal and external partners on research design, interpretation, and data sources. The role contributes directly to strategic goals related to access, affordability, and the value of legal education.
Work arrangement and schedule
This is a remote role based in the United States. Although the job can be done remotely, the team expects the incumbent to work from 8:15 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time, regardless of time zone. The position is full-time and exempt, with availability expected for at least 40 hours per week, subject to approved leave, travel, and other absences. The standard working week runs Monday through Friday.
Compensation
The annual salary for this position is $70,000.
Key responsibilities
- Support the organization’s research agenda by helping build evidence around law school access, affordability, academic success, bar success, and the value of legal education, while also helping carry out strategic plan initiatives.
- Help manage and update the Center’s research and data products, including tools such as Analytix and XploreJD.
- Organize, structure, and clean datasets so they can be used effectively for research and policy analysis.
- Perform basic statistical analysis using internal and external datasets and help create clear tables and charts for different audiences.
- Work with colleagues, grantees, outside researchers, and consultants on research planning, data interpretation, and locating higher education data sources.
- Help turn research findings into concise briefs, white papers, reports, and other materials for policy and practitioner audiences.
- Represent the Center at conferences and industry events and present research findings in professional settings.
- Contribute to a repository of research evidence and data, including the AccessLex Resource Collections, that supports both company goals and broader legal education research needs.
- Handle additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Strong interest in improving access, affordability, and value in legal education.
- Ability to work independently, set priorities, manage deadlines, and balance several deliverables at once.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and foresight in addressing challenges.
- High attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
- Solid math and analytical capability.
- Working knowledge of evaluation methods, both qualitative and quantitative, gained through study or experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and common data management functions.
- Prior experience performing quantitative analysis in R Studio, STATA, or another statistical package.
- Experience preparing and presenting research reports.
- Preferred experience with public speaking and presentations.
- Preferred familiarity with higher education or legal education datasets, definitions, and limitations.
- Preferred knowledge of higher education policy and student financial aid policy, especially for graduate and professional students.
- Preferred ability to explain statistical concepts and methods to non-technical audiences.
- Preferred hands-on experience with R Studio.
- Preferred experience with data visualization tools such as PowerBI or Tableau.
- Bachelor’s degree in pre-law, statistics, economics, sociology, political science, or a related field plus at least 2 years of relevant experience, or a master’s degree in education, economics, political science, public policy, sociology, statistics, or a related field.
