Role Summary
The studio is looking for an organized, detail-driven Residential Interior Design Assistant / Project Manager to support the residential design team in Boca Raton. This is a full-time, in-office position that contributes across every stage of the design process.
The selected candidate will assist with design development while also handling project coordination, procurement, vendor communication, scheduling, and client updates. The role is important to keeping projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with the firm’s standards for quality and client satisfaction.
Design Support
- Help designers with space planning, furniture layouts, and presentation materials.
- Build and update floor plans, furniture plans, and project records.
- Research furniture, lighting, accessories, materials, and finishes.
- Prepare client-facing presentations, mood boards, and design specifications.
- Support product selection and sourcing activities.
- Keep design files, finish schedules, and project documentation organized and current.
Project Management
- Track project schedules, deadlines, and major milestones.
- Oversee procurement tasks such as purchase orders, vendor follow-ups, and delivery tracking.
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, installers, and specialty trades.
- Help monitor budgets and keep records of approvals and expenses.
- Arrange and attend site visits, installations, and project meetings.
- Provide regular progress updates to clients, including timelines and pending decisions.
- Spot issues early and help resolve them to protect timelines and client expectations.
- Coordinate installation details and assist with punch list completion.
- Ensure project files remain complete, accurate, and updated throughout the project.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should bring at least 2 years of experience in interior design, project management, or a similar area. A solid understanding of residential interior design fundamentals and furnishings is preferred, along with strong space-planning and furniture layout skills. Experience selecting furniture and other interior elements is also important.
Applicants should be comfortable managing several projects and deadlines at once, and should have excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Strong organization, careful attention to detail, and familiarity with design software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar tools are highly desirable. A bachelor’s degree or certification in Interior Design, or a related discipline, is preferred. Prior experience working with vendors, contractors, and clients is also valuable.
