Job description

Role overview

The Sales Associate serves as the face of the brand, with a focus on driving revenue, creating a positive shopping journey, and keeping the store looking and running as expected. The role also includes supporting visual merchandising and carrying out retail operations assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager.

Customer service

  • Welcome shoppers, understand what they are looking for, and guide them toward suitable products.
  • Use proactive engagement to turn browsing visitors into purchasers.
  • Introduce the brand’s loyalty programme to help build repeat business.
  • Deliver a high standard of service by following the GUEST approach: Greet, Understand, Explain, Sell, Thank.
  • Build familiarity with the group’s brands so you can suggest alternatives and support cross-selling.
  • Explain product details, including features, advantages, fabric or material information, and care guidance.

Appearance, conduct, and product knowledge

  • Maintain a polished, professional, and well-groomed presentation at all times.
  • Remain flexible for longer shifts during busy trading periods.
  • Keep product knowledge current to support accurate recommendations and help reduce stock loss.

Merchandising and stock handling

  • Present merchandise neatly and attractively in line with store layout expectations.
  • Follow visual merchandising standards and inventory controls, including for markdown or clearance stock.
  • Track incoming and outgoing stock carefully and keep inventory records accurate.
  • Look for opportunities to upsell and cross-sell to strengthen sales performance.
  • Stay informed about products and promotions so customer queries can be answered clearly.

Billing and store operations

  • Operate the Point of Sale system efficiently for customer billing and payment processing.
  • Count and reconcile the cash till at both the beginning and end of the shift.
  • Accept and process payments through cash, cards, vouchers, and automated debits.
  • Provide receipts, refunds, and correct change without error.
  • Stay alert to store security requirements and comply with all loss prevention rules.
  • Replenish shelves and reorganise merchandise on the sales floor to keep products available.

Qualification requirement

A bachelor’s degree is preferred for this role. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities are important, and prior experience in a sales position is an advantage.
