About The Role

Thiess is seeking a passionate and energetic Sampler for its Yilgarn Iron Ore Project, located in the Shire of Yilgarn. This role operates on a 14 days on, 7 days off, Drive-In Drive-Out (DIDO) roster. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting representative samples from various sources within the mining operation, ensuring accuracy in documentation and adherence to strict sampling protocols. This position offers a challenging and rewarding opportunity to contribute to informed decision-making by geologists, metallurgists, and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Collect samples from ore bodies, stockpiles, drill cuttings, conveyor belts, or processing circuits.
• Ensure each collected sample accurately represents the larger material volume.
• Prepare and reduce samples to the appropriate size for laboratory analysis.
• Maintain meticulous documentation and strictly follow all sampling protocols.
• Support geologists, metallurgists, and production teams by providing reliable sample data for decision-making.

Requirements

• Possession of a current Dangerous Goods Security Card.
• Previous experience in a production mining open pit environment, preferably in a similar sampling role.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of motivation.
• A strong commitment to safety, embodying a "Can Do" attitude.
• A current Western Australian driver’s licence.

Eligibility

This role is open to individuals with a strong safety focus, the ability to work independently, and relevant experience in open pit mining operations. A current WA driver's licence and a Dangerous Goods Security Card are mandatory.

Additional Information

The Yilgarn Iron Ore Project encompasses the mining sites of Koolyanobbing, Windarling, and Parker Range. The region has a significant history of iron ore mining, with ore transported to Esperance Port for export. The mining areas are situated on the land of the Marlinyu Ghoorlie Native Title Group.
