Scaffold Builder Overview
The Scaffold Builder is responsible for constructing temporary wooden structures, such as concrete forms, scaffolds, tunnels, bridge supports, sewer supports, and temporary shelters, following blueprints, sketches, or verbal instructions.
Scaffold Builder Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Measure and mark materials according to blueprints and instructions.
- Cut and shape wood or timber using various saws and woodworking machinery.
- Assemble and secure framework components using bolts, nails, and screws.
- Install bracing and supports for forms and structures using a variety of fastening methods.
- Erect frameworks, scaffolds, hoists, and other temporary structures using hand tools and leveling equipment.
- Strictly adhere to all company safety regulations and OSHA standards.
Scaffold Builder Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- A minimum of four years of relevant scaffold building experience.
- Ability to interpret and understand structural drawings.
Scaffold Builder Physical Demands
- Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolds up to 300 feet while carrying equipment.
- Must be able to support own body weight while climbing.
- Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and kneeling.
- Capacity to work in confined spaces.
- Tolerance for fluctuating temperatures and noisy, dusty environments.
