Role Overview
This part-time school maintenance position is suited to a self-driven person with solid communication skills who can work independently and also collaborate effectively with others. The role focuses on maintaining and repairing school buildings and grounds so the campus remains safe for students, staff, and visitors.
Working days are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep building systems and equipment operating properly, including air-conditioning units and pumps.
- Carry out day-to-day repairs and upkeep across school buildings, such as changing locks and light bulbs, replacing windows, and patching wall or woodwork damage.
- Complete regular maintenance on tools and equipment.
- Work out likely repair costs and maintain records of completed maintenance work.
- Receive, store, and issue materials and other goods as needed.
- Relocate furniture and equipment when required.
- Maintain the school grounds through activities such as mowing, pruning, weeding, planting, and litter removal.
- Support campus improvement projects, including fencing, paving, and gardening work.
- Prepare daily reports on grounds maintenance activities.
- Help train new staff in groundskeeping tasks.
- Operate school vehicles when necessary.
What the School Is Looking For
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience in building and grounds maintenance, along with practical knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and general trade work. Familiarity with the operation of maintenance machinery and equipment is important, as is the ability to work alone or as part of a team. Strong communication skills are essential, and a trade background would be an advantage.
Working Requirements
- Previous experience in general maintenance for grounds and/or buildings.
- Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and broader trade maintenance tasks.
- Understanding of machinery and equipment used in building maintenance.
- Confidence to work without supervision and also contribute within a team.
- Well-developed communication skills.
- Trade experience or qualifications are preferred.
- Current driver’s licence and access to your own vehicle.
- Valid NSW Working with Children Check for paid employment.
- May need to provide an International Police Check clearance.

The role offers a pay rate of $33.05 to $35.29 per hour plus superannuation.
