Overview
This contract role is for a practical, hands-on Scrum Master supporting a small cross-functional product team that builds and improves enterprise software. The role is based in Mississauga, Ontario, with a hybrid work setup, and is initially planned for 6 months with the possibility of extension.
What You’ll Do
- Work day to day with the engineering team to stay on top of priorities, active work, and delivery targets.
- Facilitate the full set of Agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Create and maintain Jira boards and dashboards to monitor sprint status, commitments, and delivery health.
- Measure and interpret Agile metrics such as velocity, predictability, and throughput to support team improvement.
- Spot cross-team dependencies early and coordinate with the right people to keep work moving.
- Remove blockers proactively and raise risks that could affect timelines or delivery outcomes.
- Help the team stay aligned with Agile and SAFe practices, including broader ART expectations where relevant.
- Coach the team on stronger Agile habits and support continuous improvement over time.
- Work with Product Owners and Product Managers to shape, clarify, and prioritize upcoming work.
Required Background
- Proven track record as a Scrum Master supporting software development teams.
- Strong practical experience using Jira, including board setup, dashboard creation, and metric tracking.
- Comfort leading Agile ceremonies and managing sprint execution from start to finish.
- Ability to handle dependencies and coordinate effectively across teams.
- Strong communication and facilitation ability when working with both technical and business partners.
- Experience operating in Agile or SAFe environments.
Preferred Experience
- Background in product-focused environments, particularly enterprise software or platform teams.
- Familiarity with Miro, Confluence, or retrospective tools.
- Scrum certifications such as CSM or SAFe are a plus.
- Experience with platforms used in large enterprise settings, such as device management, monitoring, or IT operations tools.
- Experience working in small Agile pods or teams of roughly 6 to 12 people.
Additional Details
This is a 6-month contract with extension potential. The role is located in Mississauga and follows a hybrid work model.
The position is focused on supporting a fast-moving product team and partnering closely with Product Management to turn customer needs into clear, actionable work.
