Job description

Role overview

This position is for a site-level project leader who will manage the execution of high-voltage transmission line work in the 765/400 kV range. The focus is on delivering the assigned section within planned timelines, budget limits, and quality benchmarks while maintaining a strong zero-harm safety culture.

The role calls for hands-on coordination across construction activities, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and day-to-day site administration to keep the project moving efficiently and in line with required standards.

Key responsibilities

The incumbent will oversee the end-to-end execution of a transmission line section, including planning and tracking foundation, erection, and stringing work to match the project schedule and quality expectations.

Site routing and tower positioning will need to be reviewed using survey inputs and field conditions, with attention to extension requirements and critical crossing points such as highways and railway lines.

Weekly and monthly resource planning must be maintained through L2 schedules, covering manpower and material requirements to support uninterrupted progress.

Regular project reporting is expected through daily and monthly MIS updates for management review.

Quality assurance will involve implementing Field Quality Plans and following relevant IS Codes and CBIP manuals, while verifying the quality of materials and completed work at site.

The role also includes enforcing safety and statutory compliance by applying OHS plans, conducting periodic safety training, and carrying out routine inspections to detect and reduce risks.

Documentation responsibilities include maintaining compensation records, landowner agreements, and administrative files, along with securing the necessary approvals to avoid delays or penalties.

Coordination with government and local administration will be essential for land and Right of Way matters, including support from officers such as the Patwari, Tehsildar, and SDM where required.

Vendor and contractor coordination will be part of the job, including conducting review meetings to close issues, control extra costs, and keep all parties aligned on deliverables.

The position also requires communication with external stakeholders for shutdown planning, permissions, and other approvals needed for timely project delivery.

Budget control and expense monitoring will be needed to keep spending within approved limits, while vendor bill checks and approvals must be handled carefully and on time.

Risk management will be centered on maintaining a safe work environment, identifying hazards early, and ensuring project activities comply with specifications and regulatory requirements.

The role encourages use of project management tools for tracking progress, allocating resources, and improving communication, along with adopting better methods and technologies to enhance execution quality.

Requirements

The candidate should hold a B.E. or B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering.

Applicants must have 10 to 12 years of relevant experience in execution of high-voltage transmission line projects in the 765/400 kV range.

The role requires familiarity with safety standards, regulatory compliance, statutory approvals, and quality control practices related to transmission line projects.
