About the Role

Securitas Canada Limited is hiring a Security Guard for the Medicine Hat area in Alberta. Securitas is a worldwide security services company with a long history dating back to 1899. Its services include on-site guarding, mobile patrols, technology-based security solutions, remote guarding, and investigations.

This is a full-time position of 38 hours per week.

Schedule and Pay

The role includes the following shifts: Wednesday and Thursday from 06:00 to 17:00, and Saturday and Sunday from 14:00 to 22:00. Pay is $17.25 per hour.

Role Summary

The selected candidate will help protect client property, assets, and personnel by monitoring the site, responding to irregularities, and maintaining a safe and orderly environment. The role also includes customer-facing support, reporting, access control, and use of security systems and computer tools.

Responsibilities

• Watch for incidents and unusual activity at the assigned client location, and report them while helping protect people, property, and assets.
• Carry out routine patrols to identify problems and inspect protective equipment and fire safety devices.
• Help maintain order and enforce site rules, directives, and procedures related to employees, visitors, and the premises.
• Manage entry to the site or facility through the admissions and access process.
• Patrol the location on foot or by vehicle and check for safety risks, hazards, unsecured doors, security breaches, blocked exits, mechanical issues, and unauthorized individuals.
• Support the client by delivering strong service while reducing risk to property and assets.
• Monitor alarm and video systems using automated intrusion detection and surveillance software.
• Use computer systems and software to observe sites and complete basic training tasks.
• Protect evidence or the scene of an incident during accidents, emergencies, or security-related investigations.

Requirements

• A valid Alberta Security Guard License is required.
• A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle are required.
• The candidate must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Availability for daytime weekday training of at least 40 hours is required.
• Knowledge of security procedures and operations is expected.
• Reliable transportation is required.
• Strong organizational ability is needed.
• Ability to prepare routine logs and reports is required.
• Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Office, is needed.
• The job requires the ability to walk, stand, and perform patrols.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.
• First Aid/CPR is an advantage.
