Job description
Role overview
The Security Officer will be part of the Human Resources Department and report to the Security Lead. The main purpose of the role is to safeguard the company, its people, and its property against physical risks and any unauthorized removal of assets.
Core duties
- Support compliance with quality standards and relevant industry regulations.
- Follow health and safety legislation, rules, and site procedures at all times.
- Control site access and stop unauthorised entry.
- Help with fire evacuations and other emergency exercises, and follow the required SOPs.
- Prevent the unauthorised removal of company property.
- Conduct searches when instructed or when needed.
- Prepare clear, accurate incident records and share them with the relevant authorities where required.
- Keep all logs factual, complete, and up to date.
- Monitor the premises using internal CCTV systems and regular patrols.
- Handle phone duties outside normal office hours.
- Complete weekly checks on the fire sprinkler system and fire alarm.
- Accompany supervisors or section leaders to stores when requested.
- Perform daily and night patrols across the site.
Performance measurement
Performance will be assessed against plant metrics and management-by-objectives targets as part of the annual appraisal cycle.
Desirable background
Useful experience or qualifications include prior industry exposure, a college-level security studies qualification, first aid certification, knowledge of fire extinguisher types and their use, a forklift truck licence, and previous work in a security role.
