Role overview
This position is focused on the on-site execution of mechanical services for a construction/project environment. The engineer will oversee installation and coordination of piping, equipment erection, HVAC, fire-fighting, and utility systems while keeping progress on track, maintaining quality, and ensuring safe work practices.
Key responsibilities
The role involves managing mechanical work at site level from execution through inspection and handover support.
- Carry out mechanical site works such as equipment erection, piping/pipeline installation, ducting, fire-fighting networks, and related utilities.
- Guide and monitor subcontractors and site crews so that work progresses according to the approved schedule and technical standards.
- Review and understand mechanical drawings, isometrics, P&IDs, and layout drawings to support correct installation.
- Perform stage-wise checks, testing, and installation verification in line with QA/QC requirements.
- Make sure materials, tools, manpower, and equipment are available so execution continues without avoidable delays.
- Keep site records updated, including daily progress notes, inspection records, and material movement/tracking logs.
- Work with procurement teams to speed up material supply and with design teams to close technical queries.
- Track contractor output and report any deviations, quality issues, or non-conformities.
- Follow safety rules closely and take part in safety audits and toolbox talks.
- Assist with commissioning activities and help close out punch points during final handover.
