Careful use of resources, dependable delivery, and a team built on integrity and solid processes are central to how the business operates.
Role Overview
Monami Construction is looking for an experienced Senior Estimator who brings strong commercial judgment to the pre-construction team. The role plays a key part in winning profitable projects by producing accurate tender pricing, assessing risks effectively, and working closely with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. This position can be based from any of the regional offices in Galway, Limerick, or Dublin.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of preparing detailed cost estimates and tender bids for a variety of construction projects, including commercial, residential, healthcare, and education work.
- Review drawings, specifications, and related documents to build precise cost plans.
- Oversee the complete tender process, from the first enquiry through to final submission.
- Spot risks and opportunities early and reflect them in pricing decisions.
- Request, compare, and assess quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
- Work with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to confirm scope and resolve queries.
- Share tender analysis and recommendations with senior leadership.
- Keep cost information and historical records current and organised.
- Support the growth of junior estimators through mentoring and team guidance.
- Join pre-tender and post-tender meetings when needed.
Requirements
- A degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
- Between 5 and 10 years of experience in estimating.
- Strong working knowledge of the Irish construction sector, including local suppliers and subcontractors.
- A proven ability to price and secure competitive tenders across different project types.
- Solid understanding of construction techniques, materials, and Irish building regulations.
- Strong commercial judgement with excellent attention to detail.
- Competence using estimating software.
- Well-developed communication, negotiation, and organisational abilities.
- Comfortable performing under pressure and meeting demanding deadlines.
