Role overview
This Senior Financial Analyst position sits within the FP&A team and is focused on financial control, reporting, forecasting, and performance analysis for the Qantas Airlines segment. The role is based at Qantas Corporate Campus in Mascot on a fixed-term arrangement through April 2027.
What you will do
- Own the month-end close process for the Qantas Airlines segment.
- Partner with Finance Business Partners to develop annual budgets, update monthly forecasts, and produce related reporting for the segment.
- Consolidate inputs from multiple business areas and turn them into clear analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Help ensure financial processes and reporting remain standardised, controlled, and executed efficiently across the segment.
- Provide meaningful financial insights that support informed, data-led decision-making.
Skills and experience
The team is looking for a qualified accounting professional with strong stakeholder engagement skills, a high level of accuracy, and the confidence to work with large, complex datasets. You should be a self-starter who can challenge assumptions, deliver practical analysis, and stay effective when priorities shift under pressure.
Requirements
- CA or CPA qualification.
- At least 5 years of experience in a financial accounting role.
- Strong communication skills across all stakeholder levels.
- Excellent attention to detail when handling complex and high-volume data.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to question, investigate, and improve outcomes.
- Capability to provide value-adding analysis and advice.
- Ability to manage deadlines, work under pressure, and reprioritise as needed.
- High accountability and resilience.
