Senior HSE Engineer

Role overview

The Senior HSE Engineer is responsible for providing high-level Health, Safety, and Environmental expertise across the department. This position ensures that all work, projects, and operational activities align with QatarEnergy standards, relevant international HSE requirements, and any project-specific obligations. The role also offers technical direction, governance, and support to strengthen safe work practices and continually improve HSE outcomes across the department.

Experience and technical background

• More than 15 years of HSE experience in large oil and gas projects, including offshore work, with at least 5 years spent in a senior HSE position.
• Strong command of HSE legislation, environmental compliance requirements, and international safety standards, particularly for offshore operations.
• Hands-on exposure to building project HSE plans, safety philosophies, and risk registers.
• Proven ability to conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and turn findings into practical lessons learned.
• Experience working as a lead auditor on major HSE audits and review exercises.
• Demonstrated leadership in supervising HSE professionals and coordinating large contractor teams.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Experience in the Gulf region is an advantage.
• Previous experience as an HSE Lead within a Project Management Team (PMT) is preferred.

Education and professional requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in an engineering field from a globally recognized university is required.
• A master’s degree is preferred.
• Membership in a recognized professional engineering or HSE body or association is mandatory.
