Role summary
The Senior Manager, Operations Supply Planner owns the supply planning process across external manufacturers and internal sites. The focus is on matching supply plans with customer and market demand while keeping operations efficient. The role works closely with internal and external supply locations, logistics, and wider supply chain teams to shape supply strategy, build and run plans, and manage risks or constraints that could affect product availability.
Key responsibilities
- Create and maintain supply plans for materials tied to the product portfolio.
- Partner with internal and external manufacturing teams to balance service levels with operational efficiency.
- Keep inventory levels accurate and ensure purchase orders remain current for Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Finished Goods to support demand.
- Build strong working relationships with global and local supply chain groups and market stakeholders to maintain supply continuity and flag emerging risks.
- Take part in supply chain meetings to stay aligned on customer needs and consumption forecasts.
- Use ERP tools such as SAP to manage demand propagation and supply requirements so the MRP process works effectively.
- Track demand changes, coordinate adjustments with stakeholders, and update site production schedules accordingly.
- Review inventory risks such as shortages, surplus stock, and obsolescence.
- Identify supply constraints early and work with the right stakeholders to resolve them.
- Handle inventory exposure linked to regulatory updates or artwork changes.
- Monitor and report supply chain performance measures including backorders, inventory compliance, and PO accuracy.
- Contribute to inventory forecasts, budget planning, and root-cause analysis for supply problems.
- Prepare monthly and quarterly stock reviews and highlight any supply disruption or inventory risk.
- Support improvement initiatives that streamline supply chain processes.
- Help with new product launches, government tender supply programs, and clinical supply requests.
- Ensure master data is kept accurate and updated in partnership with relevant teams.
- Use BI and analytics tools such as Tableau, Power BI, APS capabilities, and internal platforms to monitor KPIs, investigate root causes, compare best actions, and support data-driven decisions.
- Help improve planning workflows through digitization and automation to increase speed and accuracy.
- Carry out operational tasks using tools such as WMS, SAP, Tableau, Riverlogic, and Kinaxis while following SOPs and maintaining strong data and planning accuracy.
- Stay adaptable and curious while learning new digital tools and platforms, including SAP, Kinaxis, and forecasting systems.
- Apply strong planning and financial understanding, including ERP transaction codes, planning software, and physical and transactional flows.
- Build familiarity with AI and machine learning-enabled planning features such as performance management and optimization.
- Keep developing skills in emerging digital and analytics methods and apply them to planning use cases.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in supply chain management, ideally in global manufacturing or pharmaceutical settings.
- Strong working knowledge of supply chain operations.
- Hands-on experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Rapid Response, along with data analysis tools.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Good understanding of pharmaceutical regulatory requirements, including cGMP, FDA, and EMA expectations.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage several priorities and work well under tight deadlines.
- A B.S. or B.A. in supply chain management, science, engineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
- APICS or a similar professional qualification is preferred.
- Ability to travel occasionally with notice, up to 10%.
- Expected to demonstrate BMS BioPharma Behaviors.
Additional information
This role reports to the Director SPU Lead, Senior Director SPU Lead, or Associate Director NSP. It may also involve supporting peers in a design or mentoring capacity.
