Senior Mechanical Engineer - Data Centers

Role Overview

This opportunity is with a data center design and engineering firm working on mission-critical and hyperscale projects across MENA, Europe, and Asia. The selected engineer will contribute to the full mechanical design lifecycle, from early-stage concept development through construction support, testing, and commissioning. The focus is on delivering mechanical solutions that are efficient, compliant, and suited to high-availability environments.

What You'll Do

• Create mechanical design packages for data center projects, including calculations, drawings, technical documents, HVAC layouts, equipment schedules, piping diagrams, and specifications.
• Engineer and coordinate HVAC, chilled water, DX cooling, ventilation, precision cooling, fire protection, and public health systems for critical facilities.
• Carry out cooling-load assessments, equipment sizing, engineering studies, and technical reports using standard tools and accepted industry methods.
• Work with electrical, architectural, structural, and BIM teams to ensure the design is well integrated and aligned with project requirements.
• Examine shop drawings, technical submissions, and material specifications, and contribute to design reviews, value engineering exercises, and coordination meetings.
• Visit sites for inspections and surveys, and provide support during construction, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and implementation.
• Maintain compliance with client expectations, local regulations, and international codes while keeping documentation accurate and deliverables on schedule.
• Help develop and standardize engineering specifications, document templates, and best-practice approaches, while encouraging adoption of modern technologies.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• Between 6 and 10 years of experience in mechanical design engineering, ideally gained in consultancy, contracting, or design-build settings.
• Background in data center, mission-critical, commercial, or industrial projects is preferred.
• Solid understanding of data center guidelines such as TIA-942 and Uptime, along with HVAC-related standards including ASHRAE, CIBSE, SMACNA, and NFPA, plus local authority rules.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is expected; experience with Revit, BIM processes, HAP, IES, or similar tools is an added advantage.
• Hands-on exposure to mission-critical cooling systems such as chilled water networks, CRAH/CRAC units, Fan Wall Units, Cooling Distribution Units, ventilation systems, and mechanical plant design.
• Strong analytical thinking, technical coordination ability, problem-solving skills, and clear communication are important, especially in multidisciplinary BIM environments.
• Familiarity with sustainable and energy-efficient building systems, plus the ability to juggle multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.

Compensation

The salary range for this role is QAR 15,000 to QAR 20,000 per month.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Doha, Qatar.
