Job description

About the role

This position sits within the Insights team and focuses on turning media coverage into high-impact analysis that supports strategy, tracks performance, and is often shared with senior leadership, including C-suite and board audiences. The reporting produced in this role is highly tailored and forms a premium part of the company’s client offering, helping organisations make better decisions about PR and communications.

What you will do

  • Produce polished media analysis and reporting for major corporate and government accounts, with outputs customised for executive-level readers.
  • Create, refine, and resolve issues in complex Boolean searches to improve media monitoring accuracy and data collection.
  • Turn large and complex sets of information into practical, strategic recommendations for clients.
  • Manage a portfolio of client reporting cycles, including monthly, quarterly, and custom deliverables.
  • Act as a subject matter specialist when presenting findings and insights to clients.

What we are looking for

The right person will bring solid media analysis experience, a strong eye for detail, and enthusiasm for insights work. Success in this role requires a mix of analytical thinking, strong writing, and comfort working in a fast-moving environment with deadlines and direct client contact.

  • A qualification in Media, Communications, Journalism, or a closely related field.
  • 3 to 4 years of experience in media analysis, communications, or insights.
  • Hands-on experience working with Boolean queries.
  • Good knowledge of the Australian and/or New Zealand media environment.
  • Strong comfort with data, detail, and identifying patterns or conclusions from trends.
  • A proactive, positive approach and willingness to get involved.

Bonus capabilities

  • Confident use of Google Suite, Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to create concise reports that combine data and narrative smoothly.
  • Strong judgement for how data is presented, including graph design and report editing.
  • Experience presenting insights to senior stakeholders.

About the company

The organisation helps influential businesses across Australia and New Zealand stay on top of breaking news and public conversation. As a media intelligence provider, it delivers live monitoring across print, digital, TV, radio, podcasts, and social channels so clients can respond quickly and stay informed.

Additional benefits

  • Dog-friendly headquarters in Surry Hills, about a 5-minute walk from Central.
  • Annual learning and development allowance of $3,000.
  • Additional leave options including birthday leave, wellbeing days, volunteering leave, and more.
  • $2,000 employee referral incentive, corporate discounts, and novated leasing options.

Additional notes

The team values a range of backgrounds and strengths, and candidates are encouraged to apply even if they do not meet every listed requirement. Interest in the media industry, enjoyment of turning data into meaningful insights, and a desire to deliver work that matters are all valued.
