About the role

This is a client-facing senior position in the payments and fintech space, centered on building, protecting, and expanding relationships with important merchants operating in complex, higher-risk settings. The role is based in Germany and is posted on behalf of a partner organization that handles applications and the next steps in the hiring process.

You will act as a trusted business partner to clients, using performance data to help lower chargebacks, improve dispute handling, and strengthen payment results. The position involves close coordination with internal technical, onboarding, and product specialists so clients can be integrated smoothly and supported effectively over the long term. It offers a high level of ownership, direct contact with senior stakeholders, and the chance to influence client strategy and commercial performance at scale.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Tier 1 and other high-value clients to support retention and long-term account health.
  • Oversee client onboarding by working with internal teams to ensure implementation runs smoothly and launch milestones are met.
  • Review client data and translate findings into practical recommendations that help reduce chargebacks and improve overall outcomes.
  • Partner with technical and product functions to support integrations and resolve complex client issues.
  • Spot opportunities for cross-selling and upselling to increase revenue from existing accounts.
  • Lead strategic conversations with client stakeholders to align expectations, priorities, and performance goals.
  • Represent the client’s perspective internally and share feedback that can improve products and service delivery.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in relationship management or sales within payments, cards, or fintech.
  • Strong knowledge of fraud prevention, dispute resolution, and high-risk merchant operations.
  • Demonstrated success in managing enterprise or Tier 1 clients with clear results in retention and account growth.
  • Analytical thinking with the ability to interpret data and turn it into actionable client strategies.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including confidence in discussions with senior decision-makers.
  • A structured, practical approach to solving problems, with strong attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree or comparable professional experience is preferred.
  • Solid understanding of payment processing systems, chargebacks, and transaction risk mitigation.
