Job description

About the Company

Datacom brings together people and technology to help solve problems, open up new opportunities, and create better outcomes for the communities it serves.

About the Role

This is a senior product leadership opportunity within a fast-growing payroll SaaS business. You will take ownership of the vision and delivery for the data and integration platforms, turning complex payroll challenges into scalable solutions that create value for customers and their employees. The role combines strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a data-led, API-centric environment, and it includes representing the product at executive level.

You will help define platform direction, build ambitious roadmaps, and guide product managers through mentoring and leadership. The position calls for close collaboration with engineering, design, marketing, customer success, and sales to align teams behind a shared product vision and support growth in adoption and revenue. The ideal person brings a strong record of delivering data or platform products in SaaS, preferably with payroll or HR data exposure, along with strong executive communication, an outcomes-first mindset, and the ability to influence across multiple disciplines.

The employer is hiring for two separate openings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Help shape the long-range strategy and roadmap for the data and/or integration platforms, making sure it supports business goals, customer needs, and the wider product portfolio.
  • Communicate a clear product direction that keeps cross-functional teams aligned and informs leadership investment decisions.
  • Contribute to defining and governing OKRs so product outcomes are measured, tracked, and acted on consistently.
  • Track market movements, competitor activity, and customer behaviour to keep platform strategy current and responsive.
  • Own the delivery of outcomes across the full platform lifecycle, from discovery through launch, commercialisation, and ongoing improvement.
  • Set high standards for roadmap management, backlog prioritisation, requirement/specification writing, and acceptance criteria.
  • Work with engineering and architecture teams to ensure technical decisions support the strategy and deliver customer value.
  • Lead complex releases across multiple workstreams, managing dependencies, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Establish and maintain platform standards for scalability, reliability, security, and compliance.
  • Build data governance, security, and compliance requirements into the product process from discovery through delivery.
  • Develop strong working relationships with senior stakeholders across engineering, go-to-market, and customer-facing teams.
  • Serve as a key alignment point for product decisions across the data and/or integration platform.
  • Partner with go-to-market, professional services, and customer success teams to drive adoption and help customers realise value.
  • Lead discovery, prioritisation, and alignment sessions with customers, partners, and internal teams.
  • Represent customer and market needs in planning discussions using evidence and practical insight.
  • Coach and support product managers and help build their capability.
  • Set clear expectations for product management standards, behaviours, and ways of working.
  • Promote a high-performing culture grounded in curiosity, collaboration, customer empathy, and continuous learning.

What You Need

  • Strong understanding of data and/or integration technologies, platform architecture, and design principles.
  • Familiarity with cloud platform environments and enterprise infrastructure concepts.
  • Solid knowledge of API management, integration patterns, and data access methods.
  • Deep experience using modern product management approaches and agile delivery principles.
  • Good understanding of SaaS business models, metrics, and commercialisation approaches.
  • Background as a Senior or Technical Product Manager in a SaaS or platform environment.
  • Proven ability to contribute to product strategy and turn roadmaps into execution aligned to business objectives.
  • Experience managing technical products across the full lifecycle, from discovery to commercialisation.
  • Track record of building or scaling enterprise data or integration platforms.
  • Experience with API management and large-scale integration orchestration.
  • Capability to mentor product managers, or clear readiness to step into that responsibility.
  • Desirable exposure to enterprise data platform architecture and modern analytics databases.
  • Desirable familiarity with business intelligence and self-service analytics concepts.
  • Desirable experience with payroll, HR technology, or fintech processes and data needs.
  • Desirable understanding of data mesh, data fabric, or federated data architecture concepts.
  • Desirable awareness of agentic AI use cases in data and integration contexts.
