About the Company

Renew Home is working to reshape home energy use by helping customers reduce both energy consumption and costs. The company supports the largest residential virtual power plant in North America and partners with leading brands to improve efficiency, savings, comfort, and cleaner energy outcomes for households.

Renew Home is an equal opportunity employer and aims to foster a workplace built on diversity, equity, and inclusion, where every team member has a voice that is respected and heard.

Role Overview

Renew Home is looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to take ownership of planning, execution, and the ongoing health of complex cross-functional programs across its VPP platform and consumer energy products. This position is part of the Technical Program Management team and reports to the Director of Technical Program Management.

The role carries a high level of autonomy and is expected to define how programs are organized, monitored, and delivered. It is not a simple coordination position. The TPM at this level is responsible for building the systems that make execution dependable, surfacing risks and tradeoffs in a way that informs decisions, and acting as a technical and operational partner to Engineering and Product leadership.

This work requires strong cross-functional awareness and regular collaboration with Engineering, Product, Design, Business Development, Customer Success, Grid Operations, and strategic planning teams.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead major multi-team initiatives from early scoping through launch and operational transition. The role also involves creating the planning structures, milestone logic, and risk models that support predictable delivery across programs.

In addition to tracking progress, you will identify dependencies, blockers, and competing priorities, then help resolve them with practical recommendations. You will work closely with Engineering and Product leaders to shape roadmap sequencing, assess resource needs, and define launch-readiness standards.

Programs in this role span the full product lifecycle, including launch preparation, validation of post-launch metrics, handoff to sustaining teams, and coordination with downstream stakeholders so they are ready to operate before closure. These stakeholders may include Business Development, Customer Success, Grid Operations, and partner-facing functions.

You will also document and share operational practices and retrospective learnings that improve execution across the TPM organization, while serving as a decision-support partner who simplifies technical and scheduling complexity into clear options for leadership. Ongoing situational awareness across connected programs is essential to identify risks and mismatches early.

Requirements

Applicants should bring at least 7 years of experience in Technical Program Management or Engineering Program Management, including 3 or more years leading programs across multiple engineering teams.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated the ability to build or meaningfully improve program management frameworks and systems, rather than only working within existing processes. A strong technical foundation in software and/or hardware is needed to evaluate engineering estimates, understand architecture tradeoffs, and collaborate effectively with senior engineers.

You should have a history of creating alignment across teams without direct authority, especially in environments with competing priorities and a mix of technical and non-technical stakeholders. Clear, direct communication skills are required, along with the ability to turn complex program details into executive-level narratives and decision points.

Experience with consumer-facing software products is required.

Preferred Background

Helpful experience includes work in energy, grid services, IoT, or other infrastructure-adjacent areas. Additional advantages include familiarity with virtual power plants, demand response, utility partner integrations, or programs involving external partners, device fleets, or regulated operating environments.

Benefits

This is a full-time role offering a competitive base salary of $160,000 to $205,000, depending on experience and other job-related factors. In addition to base pay, the role includes a target annual bonus of 15% of base salary and eligibility for long-term incentive programs linked to company growth and performance.

The position is fully remote and includes a home office setup allowance. The company emphasizes sustainable work practices, meaningful PTO rather than preset vacation limits, parental leave, and a work-life balance culture that prioritizes families.

Additional benefits include a competitive health and wellness package, a 401(k) plan with employer contributions, and the chance to work with a mission-driven team in a fully remote environment.

Work Authorization and Equal Opportunity

The company cannot sponsor or assume sponsorship of employment visas at this time. Candidates must already be authorized to work in the United States and must not require current or future immigration support from the company, including training plans for foreign students.

Renew Home is committed to equal opportunity in employment and reviews all candidates without regard to legally protected characteristics, including race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, sexual orientation, marital status, parental status, veteran status, military status, or other protected categories under applicable law.

Reasonable accommodations will be provided to applicants and employees with disabilities for the application or interview process, essential job functions, and other employment-related benefits and privileges. Candidates may contact the company to request accommodation.
