Role overview
Global Connections to Employment (GCE) is a nationwide employer focused on creating career opportunities for people with significant disabilities, including wounded veterans. Founded in 1986, the organization supports a wide range of service lines such as custodial work, facilities upkeep, food service, and other related operations. It works with military, commercial, community, and government partners across the country.
The Shift Leader role involves carrying out assigned contract responsibilities safely and in line with management direction. Consistently delivering strong customer service is a core expectation. The company also expects the person in this role to be willing to learn every part of the job.
What you will do
- Complete assigned contract tasks safely and according to management instructions.
- Maintain a high standard of service for customers at all times.
- Learn and become familiar with all duties associated with the position.
Experience, knowledge, and abilities
- At least 1 year of experience in custodial work or a similar service field is required.
- You should be able to work on your own when necessary while still contributing to the wider team effort.
- You must communicate and interact professionally with customers and coworkers.
- You need to be physically capable of handling the general tasks required by the contract.
- You must be able to clear the organization’s screening process, including any required state or federal background checks.
Physical and work conditions
This job may involve traveling between locations and buildings during the year and working in different weather conditions. Most duties are performed indoors. The role includes exposure to cleaning chemicals and may require following Emergency Operations Work Assignments based on customer needs. Work schedules can change.
While performing the job, you will regularly need to bend, crouch, walk, climb stairs and ladders, reach overhead, and lift up to 40 pounds. You may also need to help lift equipment and move furniture, and on occasion lift or move up to 50 pounds.
