Role overview

The SIMOPS PTW Coordinator manages permit-to-work activities for a designated asset area, making sure every task is planned and carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures as well as RLIC requirements. This position serves as the main coordination hub for operations, contractors, and project teams on all PTW matters.

PTW coordination and planning

  • Act as the primary contact for all permit-to-work matters.
  • Work closely with Operations and Performing Parties to support safe execution of work.
  • Advise stakeholders on PTW workflows, systems, and requirements, including electronic PTW.

Risk review and work preparation

  • Screen and review permits during the planning stage.
  • Confirm that proper hazard identification and risk assessment are completed.
  • Spot clashes between activities and ensure suitable controls are put in place.

Daily operations and communication

  • Run daily meetings for PTW coordination.
  • Keep planned work schedules updated and share them on a daily and weekly basis.
  • Maintain PTW registers, certificates, and performance data.
  • Inform Shift Supervisors about upcoming permits and any operational limitations.

Compliance and monitoring

  • Carry out spot inspections to verify adherence to PTW procedures.
  • Help organize and take part in PTW audits.
  • Serve as the key contact person for audit-related PTW activities.

Documentation and reporting

  • Keep complete and accurate records of permits, certificates, and compliance files.
  • Monitor permits that are overdue or have expired and escalate them to management.
  • Prepare recurring reports, statistics, and non-compliance summaries for PTW activities.

Continuous improvement and investigations

  • Look for ways to strengthen PTW systems and improve process effectiveness.
  • Contribute to incident and near-miss investigations linked to permit-to-work activities.

Qualifications and experience

  • HND in Engineering is required.
  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in oil and gas operations is required.
  • Hands-on exposure to PTW systems and operating environments is essential.

Skills and competencies

  • Strong command of permit-to-work systems and procedures.
  • Good understanding of process operations in oil and gas facilities.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Comfortable working in multinational teams and environments.
  • Strong awareness of safety, health, and environmental practices.
  • Well-developed planning and organizing abilities.
  • High standards of integrity and professional ethics.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Follow all SHE policies, standards, and requirements.
  • Support Qatarization efforts and the development of national talent.
  • Comply with company policies, competition laws, and internal procedures.
