The OpportunityWe are seeking two Site Supervisors to join our MakerSpace team, with one position based in Townsville and another in Brisbane. The MakerSpace Site Supervisors will be responsible for executing a variety of structured tasks with defined scope and complexity, applying foundational principles and concepts within the MakerSpace environment.
Responsibilities- Oversee the daily operations of the MakerSpace site, ensuring adherence to current policies, procedures, and directives from the MakerSpace Program or Operations Manager, including administrative and reporting duties.
- Manage user access through sign-in, induction, and authorization processes in line with current policies and procedures.
- Ensure the safety and effective management of all MakerSpace users.
- Forecast and manage consumable inventory in accordance with procurement governance and guidance from the Procurement Manager.
- Handle the collection, stocktaking, and storage of procured materials.
- Manage all scheduled preventative maintenance and necessary repairs for site equipment.
- Collaborate with local Commonwealth units to promote MakerSpace capabilities.
- Deliver formal and informal user training sessions.
- Facilitate MakerSpace programs and course content, providing support for delivery at remote locations as needed.
- Possess demonstrated technical experience in Electronics, IT, Electrical, Fitter Machinist, or Mechanical trades, or a minimum of two years of engineering experience in Electronics, Electrical, Mechatronics, or a comparable field.
- Have prior experience in designing and prototyping unique solutions or managing low-volume production runs.
- Familiarity with technologies such as Laser CNC, 3D printing, PCB printing, VR/AR development, software programmable kits, smart applications, and general prototyping.
- Proven ability to operate fabrication machinery and associated software effectively.
- Capability to research and select suitable off-the-shelf software solutions to provide timely project recommendations regarding necessity, procurement, and deployment.
- Proficient computing skills, including intermediate MS Office proficiency and CAD experience.
- A strong ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring their efficient and timely progression.
- Aptitude for coaching and mentoring team members to meet project objectives.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Australian Defence security clearance (Baseline minimum).
