Job description

About Enable Ireland

Enable Ireland is a values-led organisation that improves the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities across Ireland. It is recognised among Ireland’s Irish Independent 150 Best Employers 2025 and holds a Silver Award in Diversity from the Irish Centre for Diversity. The organisation places strong emphasis on fairness, dignity, equality, inclusion and active engagement, and continues to strengthen these commitments.

Role Overview

Enable Ireland is looking for a motivated Social Care Worker to join the Adult Services team at the Limerick City Hub. In this role, you will be part of the Adult Day Services team and will provide social care support to adults with physical and/or sensory disabilities, mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, and autism. The role involves supporting service users with their personal needs, goals and activities in line with each person’s preferences.

Employment Details

This is a full-time permanent contract with 39 hours of work per week. The annual leave entitlement is 31 days pro rata per annum. The salary range is €39,160 to €54,746 pro rata per annum, with long service increments applying. This pay scale is also expected to increase in 2026 in line with the recent WRC agreement on improved pay adjustments for Section 39 organisations.

Essential Criteria

Applicants must meet the registration, qualification and suitability requirements for the role. You need to hold professional registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by the Social Care Workers Registration Board at CORU and have either a Schedule 3 qualification or a comparable qualification recognised by the Social Care Workers Registration Board. On appointment, you must continue to hold annual registration on the Social Care Workers Register maintained by CORU. You should also have the knowledge, practical ability and personal suitability needed to carry out the position effectively.

Relevant experience is required, including at least one year of post-registration experience specifically supporting adults with autism. The role also calls for experience in: developing personal plans; working in a key worker capacity; contributing to and implementing behaviour support plans; providing personal care; supporting adults with medical needs and administering medication; and taking part in professional supervision. A full, clean manual driving licence is required, along with basic IT skills. Candidates must also be eligible to work in the state.

Desirable Experience

It would be an advantage to have experience working with adults and families who have physical, sensory or intellectual disabilities. If there is a high number of applicants, this desirable experience may be used during shortlisting.

Benefits

Employees can access a broad range of benefits, including internal and external training opportunities, generous leave, flexible working arrangements, a long service reward scheme, enhanced maternity leave, enhanced adoptive leave, enhanced paternity leave, wellbeing supports and a pension.

Application Process

Applications must be submitted using Enable Ireland’s application form only; CVs will not be accepted. Applicants should download the job description and person specification for their reference and complete the online form.

Additional Information

Informal queries can be sent by email to Aine Joyce, Centre Coordinator, at [email protected]. The closing date for applications is 4pm on Friday 17 July 2026, and the interview date is to be confirmed.

A panel may be created from this recruitment process to fill similar vacancies that may arise over the next 12 months. The role is subject to reference checks and may also require Garda vetting or police clearance, where applicable. Because of the volume of applications, individual feedback cannot be provided to applicants who are not shortlisted. Applications are welcomed from suitably qualified people from all sections of the community. The information provided is intended as a guide only, and the employer reserves the right to amend the role details before appointment.

The employer’s privacy policy and external data protection notice explain how applicant information is processed.
