Role overview
Right To Be is hiring a creative, highly organized, and detail-focused Social Media Associate to help manage the organization’s social channels on a day-to-day basis. This person will contribute to social content execution, audience interaction, publishing coordination, and broader digital communications that showcase the organization’s programs, campaigns, partnerships, and thought leadership.
The role partners closely with the Digital Design and Social Media Manager to keep the organization’s social presence current, engaging, mission-aligned, and consistent with its voice.
Work arrangement
This is a non-exempt, part-time remote position based in the United States. The schedule is 10 hours per week and can be arranged across either two longer days or three shorter days. Core overlap is required from 10:00 AM ET to 2:00 PM ET for at least two days each week. Some travel is expected. There are no supervisory duties in this role.
What you will do
- Build and adapt visual content using existing brand templates while tailoring assets for different platforms and audience types.
- Plan, schedule, and publish posts across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, Bluesky, and YouTube.
- Help maintain the content calendar and keep daily social operations running smoothly.
- Draft captions, post copy, and channel-specific messaging.
- Track comments, direct messages, and engagement, and escalate when a response needs additional attention.
- Support live social coverage for campaigns, events, webinars, and other organizational moments.
- Keep messaging and brand voice aligned across channels.
- Edit short-form video for social use, including clipping longer content, resizing graphics, adding captions, and preparing platform-ready files.
- Adapt approved rapid-response content for social channels, including copy, assets, scheduling, monitoring, and implementation of communications plans.
- Watch for relevant trends, emerging opportunities, and conversations that may connect to the organization’s work.
- Collect and organize content such as graphics, videos, quotes, and campaign materials.
- Work with internal teams to amplify priorities, campaigns, and partnerships.
- Help with basic performance tracking and reporting for social channels.
- Apply accessibility best practices, including alt text and captioning.
- Join team meetings and planning discussions as needed.
- Help organize workflows, manage content files, and maintain archives and digital assets.
Required background and qualifications
- 1 to 2 years of experience in social media management, digital communications, or content creation.
- Strong writing ability and the flexibility to adjust tone and style for different platforms.
- Working familiarity with major social platforms and social media management tools.
- Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Comfort working in a collaborative remote environment.
- Experience with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or basic video editing tools.
- Awareness of accessibility practices in digital communications.
- Background supporting nonprofit, advocacy, or mission-driven work.
- Understanding of online harassment, digital safety, or movement-building communications.
- Interest in social justice, community engagement, and Right To Be’s mission.
Compensation and benefits
The pay for this role is $24.04 per hour. The position is listed with 15 hours per week in the compensation section.
