Job description

About the Role

Digital products are integral to creating customer value, supporting teams, and enhancing the consumer experience at The Coca-Cola Company. Our product and engineering teams are structured as small, empowered units focused on clarity, speed, and purpose, leveraging digital solutions to gain a competitive edge in Coca-Cola's North America Operating Unit. Our work encompasses customer journeys, service delivery, sales processes, and the connecting platforms. We are committed to elevating our standards for product quality and modernizing the underlying systems.

As a Software Engineer, you will be a key member of an empowered product team. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Design, and fellow Engineers to develop high-quality software that addresses genuine customer needs. This position is ideal for engineers seeking to advance their skills, cultivate strong product intuition, and contribute meaningfully to solutions beyond task execution.

What You Will Work On

At Coca-Cola, engineers have the unique opportunity to develop products at a significant scale. You will shape digital experiences, platforms, and intelligent systems that support customer service, empower field teams and partners, facilitate sales operations, and drive transaction growth for one of the world's most recognized brands. Depending on your team, your contributions could involve developing connected service tools to improve resolution times, building data and API platforms to enable growth and decision-making, creating customer and operational experiences to streamline workflows, or crafting sales products that provide teams with enhanced visibility, insights, and execution capabilities. This role offers a chance to join at a critical juncture, influencing modern engineering practices, shaping product direction, and building high-impact solutions within empowered, cross-functional teams where your work directly correlates with business performance and customer outcomes.

How We Work

You will be part of a dedicated, cross-functional team comprising Product, Design, and Engineering professionals. This team operates with the following principles:

  • Empowered to solve problems, not just build features
  • Accountable for achieving outcomes, not just for output
  • Collaborative by default, involved from discovery through delivery
  • Continuously learning, utilizing data and customer insights for improvement

Key Responsibilities

Partner in Discovery & Solution Shaping

  • Collaborate with Product Management and Product Design to thoroughly understand customer challenges, workflows, and pain points.
  • Contribute to the discovery process, including idea generation, prototyping, and evaluating various approaches.
  • Provide technical insights to help the team determine feasibility, value, and optimal building strategies.
  • Challenge existing assumptions and propose alternative solutions that are simpler, faster, or more impactful.

Lead Technical Direction for the Team

  • Guide the technical strategy, architecture, and system design for your designated product area.
  • Make balanced decisions considering speed, scalability, maintainability, and cost.
  • Ensure alignment with broader platform and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Proactively identify and manage technical risks, clearly communicating tradeoffs to stakeholders.

Own End-to-End Engineering Outcomes

  • Deliver robust solutions that meet established standards for performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
  • Uphold strong engineering practices, including comprehensive testing, observability, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Maintain a high standard for code quality and system design through rigorous reviews and hands-on contributions.
  • Drive continuous product enhancement through iteration, feedback incorporation, and learning.

Own Outcome-Oriented Delivery

  • Collaborate with Product and Data teams to define and monitor success metrics and outcomes.
  • Prioritize delivering meaningful impact over simply completing tasks.
  • Leverage data, customer feedback, and experimentation to inform decisions and prioritize improvements.
  • Balance immediate delivery needs with long-term product and technical health.

Contribute to a Strong Engineering Culture

  • Assist in refining engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across teams.
  • Foster a culture that values pragmatism, simplicity, and high-quality execution.
  • Work with other tech leads to ensure consistency and promote the use of shared solutions.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proficiency in full-stack engineering, encompassing frontend, backend, APIs, and modern architectures.
  • A product-oriented mindset, with a focus on users, outcomes, and the rationale behind development.
  • Strong technical judgment, enabling sound decision-making and avoidance of over-engineering.
  • A proactive approach to ownership and influencing decisions.
  • Effective collaboration skills with product managers and designers.

Key Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years and a maximum of 5 years of software engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and deploying production-ready applications.
  • Proficiency in contemporary programming languages and frameworks for both frontend and backend development.
  • Experience working with APIs, distributed systems, and cloud environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within cross-functional product teams (Product, Design, Engineering).
  • Experience contributing to product discovery or solution design, beyond just delivery.
  • A proven track record of technical leadership, whether formal or informal, within a team.
  • Exposure to data-driven systems, automation, or AI-enabled systems.
  • Experience with enterprise platforms or large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience in developing customer-facing products.
  • Familiarity with modern engineering practices such as CI/CD, testing, and observability.

Education

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related field is required.
  • Equivalent practical experience will be considered equally valuable.

Who Thrives Here

Engineers who are:

  • Curious about customers and how products deliver value.
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating and debating ideas across different disciplines.
  • Proud of both their technical contributions and the impact those contributions make.

Who This Role Is Not For

This role may not be suitable for individuals who:

  • Prefer working from highly detailed requirements with minimal ambiguity.
  • Wish to concentrate solely on coding without engaging in product strategy decisions.
  • Are most comfortable in highly structured, delivery-focused environments.
