Job Summary
The Sterilization Technician will oversee sterilization and infection prevention procedures within a healthcare setting. This role is crucial for ensuring that all medical instruments, equipment, and clinical spaces are thoroughly cleaned, disinfected, and sterilized in strict adherence to International Medical Corps guidelines and universal hygiene practices.
Main Tasks And Responsibilities
- Implement sterilization and infection prevention protocols in line with established medical standards.
- Conduct the cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of medical instruments and equipment utilizing approved methodologies.
- Assemble, package, and label sterilized instrument sets ready for clinical application.
- Ensure the proper maintenance and operational functionality of sterilization equipment, including sterilizers.
- Uphold the cleanliness and orderliness of the sterilization unit.
- Manage the collection and disposal of medical waste in compliance with safety regulations.
- Communicate any instances of damaged instruments or equipment malfunctions to supervisory staff.
- Provide essential support to surgical and clinical teams by guaranteeing the consistent availability of sterile instruments.
- Undertake additional duties as may be assigned, recognizing that the listed responsibilities are representative and not exhaustive.
Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a Sterilization Technician certification or a relevant healthcare technical diploma.
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in sterilization or infection prevention is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of medical sterilization techniques and infection prevention standards.
- Capability to function effectively in both clinical and emergency response settings.
- Proficiency in the English language is mandatory.
