Storage and Backup Expert

Role overview

This position is focused on keeping enterprise storage and data protection services stable, secure, and highly available for business-critical workloads. The specialist will handle routine administration, issue resolution, optimization, and lifecycle tasks across a range of storage and backup technologies from multiple vendors.

Storage administration

• Operate and support enterprise storage environments built on DELL platforms, including VMAX, PowerMax, Unity, NAS, and Elastic Cloud Storage (ECS).
• Support IBM Flash Storage, IBM Elastic Storage System (ESS), Pure Storage, and Huawei OceanStor setups.
• Carry out provisioning, zoning, masking, capacity tracking, and performance oversight.
• Continuously check storage health and address performance, availability, and capacity problems before they affect service-level targets.
• Handle storage moves, upgrades, firmware refreshes, and patching activities.
• Support replication, snapshot management, and disaster recovery processes according to approved procedures.

Backup and data protection

• Administer backup platforms such as DELL EMC NetWorker, PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), and Data Domain.
• Manage backup schedules, retention settings, job execution, and compliance-related requirements.
• Track backup runs, investigate failures, and make sure jobs finish within the allowed backup window.
• Fulfill restore requests, assist with recovery tests, and support disaster recovery activities.
• Ensure backup and restore services align with defined RPO and RTO targets.

Operations and support

• Serve as a senior escalation contact for storage and backup incidents, problems, and service requests.
• Analyze root causes and implement corrective and preventive measures to reduce repeat issues.
• Keep operational guides, runbooks, and standard operating procedures current.
• Take part in on-call coverage for 24x7 production environments when needed.
• Work with vendors on support cases, technical coordination, and resolution follow-up.

Collaboration and knowledge sharing

• Partner with UNIX/Linux, Windows, VMware, cloud, and application teams on storage and backup work.
• Guide and support junior colleagues through mentoring and technical direction.
• Share clear updates with stakeholders about operational status, incidents, and risk areas.
• Identify operational risks early and drive them through to closure.

Requirements

• Practical experience with DELL storage systems, IBM Flash Storage, IBM ESS, Pure Storage, and Huawei OceanStor.
• Strong command of DELL EMC NetWorker, PowerProtect Data Manager (PPDM), and Data Domain.
• Good understanding of SAN/NAS, Fibre Channel, iSCSI, multipathing, and storage networking.
• Experience supporting storage services for VMware, UNIX/Linux, and database platforms.
• Working knowledge of replication, snapshots, and disaster recovery operations.
• BSc in Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a similar field.
• At least 8 years of enterprise-level experience in storage and backup administration.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and stakeholder coordination abilities.
• Comfortable working independently and handling high-pressure production incidents.
• Detail-focused, proactive, and accountable in day-to-day execution.
