Role overview

B&Q is hiring a Store Delivery Driver for its Plymouth location. This is a full-time on-site role of 36.75 hours per week on a permanent contract. Working hours are scheduled across Monday to Sunday, between 7:00am and 10:00pm. The position pays the UK national hourly rate of £13.85.

Because the job involves moving goods, candidates should be comfortable with regular heavy lifting.

About the role

In this role, you will help deliver a strong customer experience by making sure orders reach customers promptly and in good condition. B&Q operates more than 300 stores, and its Digital Hub stores support local home deliveries using 3.5-ton vans. Deliveries may include anything from small paint tins to large flooring packs, so the role combines driving with physically active work.

When you are not out completing multi-drop deliveries, you will support store operations on the shop floor, using technology to process customer orders and assisting colleagues where needed. The role requires a careful balance of efficiency, safety, and customer focus while representing the B&Q brand.

Requirements

You should be a clear communicator who can plan sensibly and stay organised even when the workload is busy. The ideal candidate is analytical, practical, and able to keep tasks straightforward.

B&Q will provide the van, training, and other equipment needed for the job. Applicants must hold a full manual UK driving licence (Category B/B1, allowing operation of vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes) for at least one year and have no more than 6 penalty points. Experience in multi-drop delivery is helpful but not mandatory.

The rota includes weekends, evenings, and bank holidays, so flexibility is essential.

Checks and verification

If selected, you will be subject to verification checks through Experian and the DVLA to confirm the information provided. A DBS check will also be completed. Any inconsistencies will be discussed with you directly.
