Stores & Logistics Supervisor - Construction

Role overview

This position is responsible for overseeing the organization, staffing, and day-to-day operations of district warehouses and stores within a construction environment. The role reports to the Logistics Manager.

Core responsibilities

• Oversee the organization, workforce, and operational performance of district warehouses and stores.
• Help shape organizational goals, priorities, policies, and objectives, and support their implementation.
• Assign, direct, and review the work plans of team members.
• Apply safety procedures and look into incidents, injuries, or unsafe working conditions.
• Track material consumption in storerooms and warehouses.
• Support efficient use of warehouse space by planning layouts that maximize storage capacity.
• Create delivery timetables and strategies for drop shipments.
• Keep inventory usage records accurate and up to date.
• Meet with staff to identify issues and work toward practical solutions.
• Recruit, train, motivate, and assess assigned employees.
• Carry out disciplinary steps and termination processes when required.
• Prepare staff updates, reports, and other necessary correspondence.
• Coordinate warehousing and storeroom operations with external agencies and organizations.
• Stay informed about new developments and trends in warehousing and storage practices.

Qualifications and skills

The role calls for a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Industrial Engineering, along with 7 to 10 years of experience in the construction industry.

Strong decision-making ability is important, including weighing costs and benefits before choosing the best course of action. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are needed to negotiate effectively with carriers, suppliers, customs brokers, and customers. The position also requires the ability to define performance indicators, analyze complex problems, evaluate possible solutions, and use logic and reasoning to compare approaches and choose the most effective one.
