Job description

Role overview

Tower Insurance is a New Zealand-born insurer focused on simplifying the customer experience, responding quickly, and helping communities across Aotearoa. This role sits at the centre of that mission by supporting customers through property damage claims and helping deliver fair, efficient, and practical repair outcomes.

The position is based in Auckland and involves assessing residential structural damage, working closely with customers and service providers, and making sure claim repairs are scoped and completed to the expected standard.

Core duties

  • Inspect residential property damage and define the repair scope needed to reach accurate, timely, and cost-effective claim resolutions.
  • Work alongside customers, contractors, suppliers, and claims staff to coordinate repair activity and keep delivery aligned with quality expectations.
  • Make sure claim decisions and repair plans follow policy terms and Tower’s service standards, while maintaining a strong customer experience.

What success looks like in the first 6 to 12 months

  • Evaluate structural damage to homes and identify the right repair response under the applicable policy conditions.
  • Coordinate with customers, contractors, repairers, approved suppliers, and internal teams to agree next steps and support prompt claim closure.
  • Check scopes, quotes, and invoices to confirm that repair costs are fair, accurate, and consistent with agreed procurement arrangements and working practices.
  • Keep up to date with contractor pricing, repair methods, construction standards, and relevant industry practices.
  • Help maintain productive supplier relationships and ensure completed repair work meets quality, compliance, and service requirements.
  • Confirm that pricing remains within agreed parameters and compliance expectations.

Experience and knowledge required

  • Practical background in assessing structural damage and applying structural repair methods and standards.
  • Experience working with contractors, repairers, suppliers, and customers in a property repair environment.
  • Previous work in administration, cost management, invoice review, and report writing.
  • Insurance claims experience or residential building repair experience would be an advantage.
  • A building trade qualification or a related qualification is required.
  • Strong understanding of structural repair processes, building standards, the Building Act, and health and safety obligations.
  • Good knowledge of building contracts, repair scoping, contractor pricing, and supplier service delivery.
  • Well-developed negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office, online systems, and digital images for assessment and reporting work.

Benefits and rewards

  • 26 weeks of paid parental leave for the primary carer and 4 weeks for partners.
  • Paid birthday leave.
  • 22 days of annual leave, plus 2 additional leave days and the option to purchase up to 8 more days.
  • Wellness leave for mental health or rest days without needing to explain why.
  • Opportunities for career development and internal progression.
  • Flexible work arrangements and a modern Auckland office.
  • Discounts on Tower insurance products.
  • Complimentary life insurance.
