Job description

Role overview

This position sits within the Asia CIB Structured Trade Finance Solutions team and focuses on creating and arranging tailored financing solutions for clients across Asia-Pacific. The work involves designing secured bilateral facilities and other customized structures such as inventory finance, contract monetization, prepayment facilities, PXF, borrowing base facilities, and similar bespoke trade finance solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and structure non-standard trade finance deals.
  • Independently manage transactions from start to finish.
  • Drive business development with a proactive, opportunity-seeking approach aimed at winning new clients and growing the portfolio.
  • Track market trends and competitor moves, then adjust sales strategy to stay competitive.
  • Assess transaction viability and associated risks, surface key concerns, and suggest improvements that help secure financing.
  • Work closely with the Distribution team to support the origination and syndication of Structured Trade Finance transactions.
  • Draft Information Memorandums and Lender Presentations for opportunities where the team acts as lead.

Required background

The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in structured trade finance products, including transactionally secured facilities, inventory finance, contract monetizations, prepayments, PXF, borrowing base structures, and other complex solutions. Experience in Structured Trade Finance, Commodity Finance, investment banking, or a closely related field is expected.

Success in this role also calls for a track record of winning and delivering large mandates, including lead arranger assignments. A degree in economics, business administration, law, or engineering from a business school or university is required, along with CFA, ACCA, CIMA, or progress toward a comparable qualification.

The role is suited to someone who has worked in an international setting, understands client-level accounting treatment for structured trade and commodity finance transactions, and can handle the accounting implications of these structures when needed. Regular travel across the APAC region is expected. Strong English fluency is essential, and knowledge of an Asian language is an advantage.

Competencies and working style

The successful applicant should be highly organized, analytically strong, collaborative, globally minded, self-driven, and comfortable leading initiatives. A strong client orientation and the ability to think creatively to design unconventional solutions are important.

Additional information

This role is based in Singapore and supports clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region.
