Job description
About the Role
Poundland is looking for a Team Leader to support the Store Manager and Assistant Manager in guiding the team and delivering an excellent shopping experience every day. In this role, you will help maintain a friendly, welcoming store where customers get great service and colleagues feel supported to perform at their best.
The position is central to the day-to-day running of the store and warehouse. You will assist with deliveries, merchandising, and operational tasks, while making sure shop floor standards stay consistently high. The role is based in a busy retail setting, so you will need to stay energised, organised, and focused while helping the team work efficiently.
Success in this job calls for a positive mindset, strong teamwork, and confidence in leading by example. You should be comfortable supporting colleagues, helping them develop, and keeping the team aligned around strong customer service and commercial performance. Retail experience is required, and prior leadership experience would be helpful, though it is not essential. Training and development will be provided to help you grow your career.
What You'll Do
- Support store leaders in managing the team and delivering a strong customer experience.
- Help create a welcoming environment for customers and a supportive one for colleagues.
- Assist with deliveries, merchandising, and daily store operations.
- Maintain high standards on the shop floor and in the warehouse.
- Motivate colleagues and keep the team focused on performance and efficiency.
- Lead by example and contribute to team development.
Rewards and Benefits
- 10% employee discount card, with enhanced discount events during the year.
- An additional day off to celebrate your birthday.
- 28 days of holiday per year including bank holidays, increasing by one day each year up to 33 days.
- Access to wellbeing support for you and your family through a retail wellbeing partner.
- Discounts and shopping vouchers through an employee savings platform.
- Access to up to 50% of earned wages early in unexpected situations, along with savings tools and financial guidance.
- Training and development opportunities, including qualifications and internal programmes.
- Life assurance, loyalty awards, and pension provision.
Progression
This opportunity can be a stepping stone into Assistant Store Manager positions and further progression within the business.
Inclusivity
The company values an inclusive recruitment process. If you need a reasonable adjustment during hiring, you can mention this in your application so support can be arranged where possible.
