Role Overview

This position supports environmental and social governance activities for credit and lending assessments, with a focus on identifying risks, ensuring policy alignment, and helping drive corrective actions across new and ongoing proposals.

Environmental and Social Due Diligence

You will evaluate environmental and social risks for fresh and existing credit requests. This includes checking sector-specific exposures, relevant approvals and permits, regulatory adherence, and borrower practices against the organisation’s policy framework.

Risk Identification and Mitigation

The role involves spotting material environmental, social, health, and safety concerns and translating them into practical controls, covenants, and mitigation measures that can support decision-making.

ESAP Preparation and Closure

You will draft Environmental and Social Action Plans based on identified gaps, coordinate with customers and internal stakeholders, and follow through until action items are completed and formally closed.

Ongoing Monitoring and Compliance

Regular monitoring of borrower compliance with agreed environmental and social conditions will be required through periodic assessments, site visits, document verification, and escalation of any deviations.

Customer Guidance and Advisory

The position also includes helping customers understand ABCL’s environmental and social expectations, supporting corrective actions, resolving concerns, and promoting awareness of sustainable practices.

Reporting and Record Keeping

You will prepare concise notes for risk and credit committees, maintain due diligence documentation, compile monitoring reports, and update MIS for management consumption.

Policy and Capability Development

Another part of the role is to stay updated on regulatory changes and global developments in environmental and social practices, while contributing to improvements in internal processes, frameworks, and training for employees and customers.
