Role Summary
Syngenta’s Crop Protection Development team is hiring a Technical Market Development Lead based in Harare, Zimbabwe. The position is focused on coordinating successful new product introductions, with launch activity covering Zimbabwe and Malawi. The role supports business growth and future profitability through demonstration trial programs, technical expertise, and training for commercial teams and external customers.
Key Accountabilities
- Represent Crop Protection Development in the Portfolio Definition Cycle by contributing to business cases and helping prioritize projects.
- Own the demo trial program and provide technical-commercial support that contributes to business growth.
- Plan and execute demonstration trials on time, working with appropriate and influential partners and customers.
- Work toward a full success rate for assigned trials, ensuring both strong quality and timely delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors, grower groups, growers, and other key industry stakeholders.
- Act as the technical expert for the business area or country, taking ownership of product-, crop-, or subject-matter-specific expertise and helping standardize and improve ways of working.
- Analyze trial outcomes in clear business language so commercial stakeholders can understand them, including observations or results not covered in the protocol.
- Review and validate findings, then share recommendations and insights on the performance of tested products and solutions across individual and combined trials.
- Organize field, classroom, virtual, and other demonstration events to train both internal and external audiences.
- Provide engagement and technical assistance to local teams in marketing, sales, and regulatory functions.
- Ensure all activities under direct control follow Syngenta health, safety, and environment requirements as well as applicable company and legal policies.
- Support sustainability and stewardship initiatives in the country.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture, preferably with specialization in plant pathology, entomology, agronomy, or weed science.
- At least 5 years of experience in product development.
- Strong technical background in agronomy, with a focus on crop protection.
- Established credibility and influence within the agricultural industry.
- Excellent interpersonal abilities and a proven capacity to build productive stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to simplify complex technical content for different audiences.
